For the past two years Mr. Lorenzen had been in very poor health, but the past few weeks he had suffered bad spells frequently, but just two days before he was stricken, he had driven his car alone to his farm northeast of town. Most every day he had made his usual trips uptown, seemingly in good spirits and always in a pleasant and jovial mood towatds his friends. Friday morning he was not feeling so well again and his son, Alfred, had come into town to see his father and visited with him until about 11 o'clock when he left for home. Shortly after the son departed Mr. Lorenzen went out doors and was sitting on the back steps of the porch when he suddenly stricken with apoplexy, His wife found him dead a few minutes later. Jacob Lorenzen was born in Germany Jan. 5,1867 and died at his home in Grand Junction, Iowa, March 17, 1933 at the age of 66 years and 2 months and 12 days. He received his boyhood education in his native country and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, At the age of sixteen years , following the death of his father, he came to America and settled at Rock Island, Ill. His entire life was devoted to farming, he having spent the greater part of that time on his farms north and east of Grand Junction until his retirement in 1927. On March 5, 1890 he was united in marriage to Katy Schierholtz and to this union were born six children, three sons and three daughters; Mrs. Christine Ficken William of Dana Albert dying in infancy Mrs. Emma Claussen of Ogden Mrs. Lillian Springer and Alfred of Dana Besides his widow and five children he is survivied by one uncle, Nichloas Jewwel of Davenport One cousin, Pete Jewell of Dana Seventeen grandchildren; Harley, Oliver, Margarete Ficken Vernon, Lorenzo, Opal, Goldie and Emogene Claussen Wanita and Beverly Lorenzen Ruth, Evelyn, Clarence, John and Harold Gene Springer anRobert Lorenzen Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
