At the home of his son, George Cochonour, in Washington township on Monday June 13th, 1892, at five a.m. where he lived for the past five years, after an illness of only three days, from a stroke of paralysis, Jacob M. Cochonour aged 78 years and one month died. He was born in the state of Maryland, May 15, 1814. At the home of his son, George Cochonour, in Washington township on Monday June 13th, 1892, at five a.m. where he lived for the past five years, after an illness of only three days, from a stroke of paralysis, Jacob M. Cochonour aged 78 years and one month died. He was born in the state of Maryland, May 15, 1814. When a boy, moved with his parents near Harrisburg, Penn. and in 1835 he went to Ohio, and after remaining there five years was married to Rachel Huffman Jan. 12th, 1840: where he lived until the fall of 1856 when he moved to Iowa where he lived up to the time of his death. He was the father of ten children, four son and six daughters, seven of whom are now living, four sons and three daughters, all in the State except the youngest son, who resides in Oregon. Three sons and two daughters were at his bedside at the time of his death. He has been a member of the United Brethern Church in Christ, nearly 40 years. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Washington township Tuesday, June 14, conducted by Rev. J. Bowman.
