OBITUARY - McMICKELL Jacob Marcellus McMickell was born November 27, 1863, at Eldon, Iowa, and passed away from this life to his eternal reward last Saturday, August 13, 1938, at 5:00 o'clock in the morning, at the St. Johns hospital in Salina, aged 74 years, eight months and 16 days. Mr. McMickell had not been well for some time but the last illness was of very short duration. He will be sorely missed in the home, the community in which he lived and the Dry Creek Baptist Church, of which he was a charter member and in which he always took a very active and vital part. Mr. McMickell and Miss Minnie Forest Roberts were united in Holy wedlock on June 25, 1891, in Lyndon, Kansas. They lived at that place seven years when they moved to Gypsum City, Kansas. After living there some three years they then moved to their present farm in Saline county northwest of Marquette in 1901 and have for these 37 years resided there. To this union six children were born, who, with their mother, survive the husband and father. They are: Jess of Salina; Ira of Eldorado; Ombey of Boulevard, Calif., Mrs. Carl G. Duncan of Oak Creek, Colo.; Mrs. Ivan O'Dell of Allimosa, Colo.; and Eula of the home. The deceased was one of a family of fourteen children of which only two brothers and one sister remain. Namely Frank and Olive of Linnens, Mo., and Thomas of Pasadena, Calif. Other more distant relatives and a large circle of friends join in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. Funeral services in charge of Rev. W. E. Simmons, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Salina, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Dry Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Donald Peterson of the Baptist Church in Lindsborg and Rev. E. A. Olson also of Lindsborg, assisted in the services. Interment was made in the Marquette Cemetery. Family Info and Obit by: J. Wathen
