Published in The Francesville Tribune (Francesville, IN), on November 23, 1911. ~~~ JACOB MYERS DIED LAST WEDNESDAY EVENING This well known former business man and citizen of this community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William J. Hubbard, Wednesday evening of last week at 5:30 o'clock. He had been in failing health for a long time, yet his death came unexpectedly. He was born in Oneida county, N. Y., November 16, 1841, and he came with his parents to Morris, Grundy county, Ill., in 1850. March 7, 1864, he was united in marriage to Eveline McCloud, who preceded him in death, April 13, 1913. To this union six children were born, Hartwell A., William C.; Gertrude A., who died June 20, 1904; Maude E., Rubert F., and Joy J. In 1865 he took up his residence in Livingston county, Ill., where he resided until 1893, when he came to Francesville, and engaged in the grain business for twenty years, being the president of the firm known as the Jacob Myers Elevator Company. Mr. Myers was a member of the Francesville Church of Christ with which he became affiliated in 1914. He leaves four sons, one daughter, and twenty-one grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, all residing in Francesville; two brothers, Albert of Cabery, Ill., and John, of San Francisco, numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral was held at the residence Saturday afternoon, Rev. Fitch, of the Christian church, officiating, who spoke from the text "Be Ye Always Prepared." A quartet sang the hymns, and six grandsons, Walter, Willard, Hal, Ralph and Wayne Myers, and Howard Hubbard were the pallbearers. The floral tributes, which were many and beautiful, were carried by six granddaughters. Burial was made in the cemetery east of town.
