Sweinahrt was born at Boyertown, Berks county, Pa., Sept. 11, 1838, and died in Tipton, Iowa, Oct. 6, 1896, aged 58 years, 24 days. Sweinahrt was born at Boyertown, Berks county, Pa., Sept. 11, 1838, and died in Tipton, Iowa, Oct. 6, 1896, aged 58 years, 24 days. Mr. Sweinahrt came to Tipton in 1861 and was well known to all in the community and universally esteemed for his excellent character. He had a delicate physical constitution from infancy and was baffled by weakness in steady pursuit of one particular avocation. But he ever renewed his efforts and kept engaged in some useful private labor or some public trust. Religion was the soul of his character, and he early professed discipleship to Christ and honored his profession. When his father's death left a vacancy in the eldership of the Reformed church here, he was by unanimous consent elected to that office and ordained as elder in 1888. He was the impersonation of honesty, truth and uprightness. He revered God and loved his fellow ma. He actualized Pope's rule: "What conscience dictates to be-don Or warns me not to do; This teach me more than hell to shun, That more than heaven pursue." Those who knew him best loved him most. His epitaph from Holy Writ concerning Enoch: "He walked with God and was not for God took hm." G.D.G.
