The many friends extend to the bereaved family their deepest sympathy. ===== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, January 8, 1920; pg. 1 Jacob P. Kirkman was born September 23, 1870, in Hancock county (sic), Illinois. When three years old he moved with his parents to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, and located on a farm one mile south of Oak. On December 12, 1900, he was married to Miss Christie Ely and to this union two children were born: Doran D. and Robert Keith. Besides his wife and two sons he leaves an aged mother, two sisters, three brothers and a large circle of friends to mourn his death. In early childhood the deceased became a member of the Baptist church and was always a good and ardent worker in all of the church activities. Mr. Kirkman was also a member of the Executive Committee of the Nuckolls County Young Men's Christian Association, and his ardent support and counsel will be a great loss to his co-workers in this cause. About three months ago he moved with his family to Lincoln, where his boys could enjoy better school privileges. He died December 31, 1919, aged 49 years, 3 months, 8 days. The remains were brought to Nelson for interment and the funeral services were conducted here Saturday afternoon by Rev. Bates of Nora, at the home of John Ely.
