Read More	The family name was originally spelled Kjeldsen. -------- From The Dannebrog News, November 11, 1943, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Keldsen Rites Here Saturday - Former Resident Died at Wood River - Jacob Peter Keldsen was born September 9, 1874 at Astrup, Denmark. At the age of 18 years he came to the United States. As a baby he was baptized in the Lutheran church in Denmark and later confirmed in the same church, and he remained a Lutheran all his life. The first few years after coming to this country he worked on farms, after which he moved to Dannebrog and for seventeen yeas was a partner with Fred Jorgensen in the dray and livery business. On December 28, 1899, he was united in marriage to Miss Alma E. Isaacson. Three children were born to this union: Ulric G., who passed away February 20, 1943, at the age of 42 years; Lloyd F., who at present is in the U. S. Navy, and Jack K. of Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1913 the family {moved} to a farm near St. Paul, Nebr., and in 1918 moved to Lake Andes, South Dakota. Returning to St. Paul and near Cushing in 1922 where they farmed until in 1929, when they bought a farm near Wood River, Nebr., where Mr. Keldsen passed away November 2, 1943, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 23 days. He had been a loving and devoted husband and father, a true friend and neighbor, and upright in all his dealings. Besides his wife, two sons, three daughters-in-law and four grandchildren, Mr. Keldsen leaves three sisters, Mrs. P. S. Petersen of Dannebrog, Mrs. T. J. Nelsen of St. Paul, and Mrs. Jens Beck in Canada, and one brother, Kjeld Keldsen in Denmark. One brother and one sister died in infancy in Denmark. There are also a number of other relatives and many friends. Among the relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Lloyd Keldsen of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Lela Keldsen and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Keldsen of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Nelsen and three daughters of St. Paul, Ray Paulsen of Lake Andes, So. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Paulsen and son, Burton of Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Emerald Nielsen of Upland, John Isaacson and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bartunek of Rockville, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Woton and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. George Woton and son, and Mrs. Molly Woton, all of Shelton, and Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Evans of Grand Island, and many friends. The pallbearers were Cecil McKaig, John Schwartz, Ralph Miller, Carl Johnson, Irvin Crosser and Harry Glenn, all neighbors and friends of Mr. Keldsen from near Wood River. After the funeral the Royal Neighbors served lunch and coffee at the P. S. Petersen home to the relataives and friends who had came a distance and from other towns. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the Lutheran church in Dannebrog with Rev. L. C. Hansen in charge of the services. Interment was in the family plot in Oak Ridge cemetery. Jacobsen Mortuary was in charge of the funeral arrangements. Many relatives and friends attended the funeral as a last respect to the memory of the deceased. ~~~~~~~~ From St. Paul Phonograph, January 5, 1900, Page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Double Wedding at Dannebrog- The marital union of two popular young couples of the south part of the county, previously announced in these columns, was celebrated at Dannebrog Thursday evening, December 28, in right grand style. It was one of those big weddings that has not yet been completely lost to the people of Scandinavian nationality. About 6:30 in the evening, at the Lutheran parsonage, Mr. Jacob P. Kjeldsen and Miss Alma Isaacson, and also Mr. Edward Isaacson and Miss Hilda Burman were respectively joined in wedlock by the pastor, Rev. J. C. Pedersen. The beautiful and impressive ceremonies were witnessed by a large number of the wedding guests. The pastor expressed the well wishes of the occasion in brief, well-chosen remarks, after which the individual congratulations of the many attending relatives and friends were showered upon the happy couples. The wedding festival was celebrated in Central Park hall. At 8 o'clock, about 250 guests sat down at the elegant supper tables, spread with sumptuous things. After the banquet the balance of the night swiftly passed with dancing and merry-making. Both couples were the recipients of fine collections of valuable and useful presents. Mr. J. P. Kjeldsen is a well-known and substantial business man of Dannebrog, being associated in the livery and dray business with Fred Jorgensen. His bride is the daughter of Ulric Isaacson, one of the old pioneers of Swede Hill, but now living in Sherman county, and a sister of Mrs. C. Paulsen of Cushing and of Mrs. Chris Nielsen of Kelso. Edward Isaacson, the other bridegroom of the occasion, is a brother of Mrs. Kjeldsen, so it will be seen that the two couples will stand in the relations of brother-in-law and sister-in-law. The bride of Edward is the daughter of our well known fellow citizen and pioneer, Oscar Burman of Boelus. Mr. and Mrs. Kjeldsen will immediately set up their home in the house formerly owned by N. J. Laverents in the west part of Dannebrog, and Mr. and Mrs. Isaacson will reside in Sherman County. The Phonograph joins a host of friends in well wishes for these four happy young people.
