Jacob Rabenstein, a resident of Walnut and vicinity for 58 years, died April 20, at the Lutheran hospital in Omaha, at the age of 79 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Rieck funeral home in Walnut at 2 p.m., and burial was made in Lincoln township cemetery. Rev. Theo Thomas, pastor of Peace Evangelical church conducted the services. Survivors are four sons, Ernest and Luke of Omaha, Henry of Pringle, S.D., Herman of Clarinda, Iowa; and one daughter, Mary, of Lincoln, Neb. Also three grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and one sister in Germany. Jacob Rabenstein was born in Germany. He came to America in 1889 and the same year was united in marriage with Toma Williams, who died in 1909. In 1914 he entered a second marriage with Anna Schultz, who preceded him in death in 1939. After living on a farm south of town for 50 years, the farm now owned by Mrs. Emma Matthies, he retired in 1940, moving to Walnut. He made his home at the hotel. Two weeks ago he complained of ill health and went to Omaha to stay with his sons. On Tuesday prior to his death, he entered the hospital, where he passed away last Sunday.
