[Unsourced newspaper clipping attached to a family history, probably Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa] Jacob Trotter, a resident of this vicinity for more than fifty years, died at his home 109 South Second Avenue East at 9:30 o'clock this morning. The cause of death was pneumonia. He had been in very poor health since Christmas. Jacob Trotter was born in Jasper County, Iowa, September 12, 1855. He has always lived in Jasper County and in this vicinity. He engaged farming for many years and for several years he owned and operated a feed barn here. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and belonged to the K.P. and the Woodsmen Lodge. He is survived by his widow and six children. The children are Mrs. Sadie Swain of Lynville, Mrs. Carrie Newell of Killduff, Mrs. Neal McCausland, Mrs. Laura Owens and Donald of this city, and Mr. Vincent Trotter of Barnes City. Funeral services will be held Monday at the Lutheran Church. Rev. W. Luther Bright, pastor of the Lutheran Church will be in charge of the service. An Old Resident Dies on Saturday Morning [Unsourced newspaper clipping attached to a family history, probably Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa] Jacob Trotter, one of our best citizens, and a resident of Jasper County from his birth, nearly 62 years, died at his home on South 2nd Avenue East, at 9:30 o'clock last Saturday morning. The cause of his death was pneumonia, although he had been in poor health for several months. Mr. Trotter was born September 12, 1856, and for most of the time since has lived in Newton, or on a farm nearby. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and also of the Pythian and Woodmen Lodges. Besides his widow, he is survived by six children, viz: Mrs. Sadie Swain of Lynnville; Mrs. Carrie Newell, of Killduff; Mrs. Neal McCausland, Mrs. Owens and Donald, of this city, and Mr. Vincent Trotter of Barnes City. He has one brother, John, of this city. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. L. Bright in the Lutheran Church on Monday afternoon, music will be rendered by Mr. D. E. Main and Nora Rader. There will be a large attendance of relatives and friends.
