Death certificate lists his wife, Anna Sloan Collins, as his mother..... :/ The informant was son L. W. Collins who gave his own mother's name for that of his father instead of Jacob's mother, Mary. Father correctly listed as Watson Collins. The 1850 census shows Jacob W. Collins as 6 year old son in the home of Watson & Mary A. Collins. His parents can be found in the 1880 Census, residing in Hurricane, Pickens County. There are some other inconsistencies in the obituary - it states he was survived by Mrs. T.H. Davenport* (this would be Osie Collins Davenport, a daughter). Her marker in the same cemetery states she died in 1912, and it is confirmed by her death announcement in the Pickens Sentinel; also Dr. V.V. Collins* (son) died on Apr. 13, 1927, 4 months before his father; according to the death date on the marker and his obituary publication date.
