Description	:	KEARNEY — Jacqueline Leith Gydesen, 77, of Elwood died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. A celebration of life for Jacqueline and her husband, Harlan, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Elwood with the Rev. Phyllis Dunlop officiating. Inurnment will be at Elwood Cemetery. Cremation was chosen. Elwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born Sept. 23, 1938, in Elwood to Keith L. and Eleanor L. (Harm) Leggott. She graduated from Elwood High School with the class of 1956. She attended Kearney State Teachers College in 1956 and graduated in 1958 with her teaching certificate. She married the love of her life, Harlan, on Sept. 12, 1958. To this union three sons were born: Kent, Kelly and Kern. They made their home in Elwood and they operated Elwood Grain Co. for several years. She then went to work at Elwood Care Center for 21 years until she retired. After retirement, she worked part time at Little Angels day care, was a member of American Legion Auxiliary for almost 48 years, was lifelong member of First Christian Church of Elwood and watched her grandchildren’s activities. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan, on Jan. 30, 2016; her parents; sister-in-law, Irene Smith; and brother-in-law, Duane Garton. Survivors include her sons, Kent and wife Barb Gydesen of Lexington and Kelly and wife Carol Gydesen and Kern and wife Mary Gydesen, all of Elwood; grandchildren, Phoebe, Halle, Austin, Cooper and wife Brooklyn, Spencer, Taylor and Jake; sister, Jerri Garton of Callaway; and brother-in-law, Donald Smith of Eugene, Ore.
