He has lived here the greater part of his life and was well known by virtually all of our citizens. His marked congenial manner and kind friendly attitude won and retained him hundreds of friends. Read More	The Iola Register -- September 13, 1930 James A.McCOY, a well known farmer of this vicinity, passed away at St. John's hospital, Iola, Tuesday where he has been for the past three months. He has lived here the greater part of his life and was well known by virtually all of our citizens. His marked congenial manner and kind friendly attitude won and retained him hundreds of friends. He chose farming for his life profession and loved to be in the fields and about the premises of his farm. James A., son of Mr. and Mrs. J.K. McCOY, was born in Illinois May 11 1867, and died at St.John's hospital, Iola, Kans., September 9 1930 age 63 years, 3 months, and 28 days. When a small child he came to Anderson county with his parents and has lived in this vicinity ever since. He was united in marriage to Miss Devia WILLIS February 21, 1892. To this union were born six children, a son who died in infancy, Mrs. Charles HOSLEY, who died in Oakland, Calif., November 12, 1926, and Bessie, Ruth, Charles and Gracie McCOY. He was converted at the age of eighteen but had not affiliated with any particular church. He assured his loved ones he was ready to go. Of his abiding faith and Christian character it can well be said, "By their works ye shall know them." He has been in ill health the past ten years, but bore his suffering bravely and uncomplainingly. Eight operations were performed and everything that medical aid could suggest and loving hands could do, has been done, but God called him and his sufferings are over. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and a good neighbor. He leaves to mourn for him his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Bessie HANNAN, of Oral, South Dakota, Mrs. Ruth RIGGS and Mrs. Logan FRAME of Bayard; ten grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Mollie FETTERS of Kincaid, Mrs. Winnie WYATT of Garnett, Mrs. Eva SMITH of Kansas City, and Mrs. Adda LOCKNER of Kincaid; six brothers, Zimmeri of Carlyle, John K., of Topeka, Clark, of Topeka; Cliff, of Pittsburg, and Loren and Lee, of Kincaid. His brother Ira, proceeded him in death. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.C. LAND at Fairview, and he was laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery. A large crowd attended the funeral and the grief stricken relatives have the sincere sympathy of all.
