Read More	OBITUARY--The Chieftain, Tecumseh, Nebraska JAMES RAMSEY Passes Away in This City---Funeral Services Held At Baptist Church in Tecumseh Monday Afternoon. James Ramsey of this city died at his home on Saturday, February 14, 1948, at 6:30 a.m. He had been in failing health seven years and bedfast since December 1 of last year. His age was 75 years, 3 months and 29 days. James Amos Ramsey, son of John L. and Martha Ann (Thompson) Ramsey, was born on October 15, 1872, at Clinton, MO., where he spent the early years of his life. His father was an early settler of Tennessee and his mother an early settler of Missouri. They came to Nebraska in 1902. Mr. Ramsey attended the public schools of Missouri, and came to Cook in 1897. On February 10, 1898, he was united in Marriage at Clinton, MO., to Altie Ann Foster, who preceded him in death on February 22, 1920, near Tecumseh. After living in the Cook vicinity where Mr. Ramsey had settled after coming to Nebraska, they farmed around Graf and Tecumseh. They came to Tecumseh 15 years ago to make their home. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey, five of whom survive their parents. The surviving children are Miss Opal Ramsey, at home; Nellie, wife of Helen VanWinkle; Sam and Russell Ramsey; and Martha, wife of Irvin DeFreece, all of this community. The deceased children are Bertha, Carl, Helen and two infant daughters. The grandchildren are Bob, Kenneth, Elaine and Keith, children of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ramsey; Ronald, Harlan, Jimmy, Betty and Carol, children of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ramsey; and Jim and Sharon, children of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin DeFreece. Mr. Ramsey is also survived by nine brothers and sisters; Hattie Stewart and Fannie Stewart of Page, Maggie Stewart of Salem, Ore., Lizzie McDaniel, Grace Mason and Mattie Mason of Tecumseh, Zola Fisher of Smith Mills, Kentucky., Waunetta Mason of Sarcoxie, MO., and Forrest Ramsey of Verona, MO. Deceased brothers are John Ramsey, Will Ramsey, Walter Ramsey and Sam Bailey. Mr. Ramsey;s step-mother, Mrs. Sarah Johnson, preceded him in death a year ago last August. Mr. Ramsey joined the Primitive Baptist church at Cheney on June 15, 1918. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Tecumseh Monday at 1:30 p.m. Elder Pollard of Independence, MO., was in charge. Interment was in the Spring Creek cemetery, Northeast of Tecumseh.
