Ramsey of Lincoln had not been well for some time, in fact he had taken treatment at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in that city, his death at 9:00 o'clock, a.m., on Thursday, October 14, 1943, was not expected at the time. He passed away suddenly with heart trouble. His age was sixty-seven years, eight months and six days. John Preston Ramsey was born at Clinton, MO., February 8, 1876, being a son of John L. and Martha Ann (Thompson) Ramsey. The family came to Nebraska when John was fourteen years of age, and the deceased lived in the Graf and Tecumseh communities until fourteen years ago, when they moved to Cheney and later to Lincoln. John was married to Miss Susie Comfort Foster in Tecumseh June 11, 1901. Seven children were born to the union, four passing away in infancy. The living children are Edith, wife of Ed Aubrey, of Lincoln; Ralph Ramsey of Camp Crowder, MO., and Lee Ramsey of Wichita, Kansas. There are two granddaughters, Leona and Lelia Ramsey of Wichita; a sister, Hattie, wife of Munson Stewart of Page, and a brother, James Ramsey of Tecumseh. His step-mother, Mrs. Sarah Johnson of Tecumseh, and seven half-sisters and one half-brother, nieces and nephews, also survive. Mr. Ramsey's wife passed away January 5, 1940. He was a man of even disposition, kind and loving to his family and other relatives, a good neighbor and citizen. The remains were brought to Tecumseh and the funeral was held at the Wherry chapel Saturday afternoon, relatives and friends in attendance. The services were conducted by Elder C. L. Crouse of the Primitive Baptist church of Hamburg, Iowa. The interment was in the Spring Creek cemetery. Those from away to come for the obsequies were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Aubrey, Mrs. Ralph Ramsey and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Supernaw and daughter of Lincoln; Ralph Ramsey of Camp Crowder, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ramsey of Wahoo, Lee Ramsey of Wichita, Kans., Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Stewart of Papillion, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson of Palmyra, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mueller of Bennet, Joel Bailey, Mrs. Ralph Walker and Mrs. C. L. Crouse of Hamburg, Iowa.
