Kalbaugh (“Tuck” Kalbaugh as his many friends called him ever since boyhood) and who only two weeks previous had been among us renewing acquaintances and shaking hands with almost every other person he met upon the streets. Fifteen to twenty years ago there were few young men in this whole vicinity so popular among both young and old as was young James Kalbaugh. His disposition was so cheerful. Merriment seemed characteristic, and the kind words and good wishes he had for everyone, endeared him to all who knew him. His absence from us for about 13 years only made his visits the more welcome . When Mr. Kalbaugh was here weeks ago, he was far from being a well man but no one thought then that he was particularly ill. Immediately upon his return to Pittsburg, he was taken down with the typhoid fever. Mr. Fred High, his nephew and Norris, his young son, were constant in their attention to him. His wife was not with him at the time of his illness, she and young Norris having gone to Phoenix, Arizona more than a year ago on the ill health of Mrs. Kalbaugh. Last May, both mother and son went to Los Angeles, California where the mother is now, the son having come home just about two weeks ago for the purpose of attending school and as it sadly happened only in time to minister to the last wants and wishes of the kind father. Mr. Kalbaugh was born in Westernport April 9, 1856, the youngest son of the late Michael Kalbaugh. He attended home schools and served time with Mr. Fredlock as a cabinet maker. He was for a great while in the employ of the B&O, at the time of his death as well. He was married in November 1882, to Miss Emma Bruce, one child, Mr. Norris surviving with the widow. In the spring of 1886, Mr. Kalbaugh left Westernport for Pittsburg where he has ever since remained. He held responsible positions in the company’s service that at the time of his decease being foreman of the yard at that important station, having some fifty or more employees directly under his superintendance. The deceased leaves two brothers, Mr I. N. Kalbaugh of Newark, Ohio, and Mr. John D. Kalbaugh of Westernport, and four sisters, Mrs. Geo. R. Boyles of Piedmont, Mrs. Lou Cruff of Harrisburg, Pa., Mrs. W. A. Shuey of Piedmont and Miss Nannie Kalbaugh also of Piedmont. The body was brought from Pittsburg to Piedmont for burial and taken directly to the residence of Dr. W. A. Shuey Monday. The funeral was Tuesday from the St. John’s M. E. church. Kalbaugh and son Wilmer of Newark, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Maloney and son Guy of Cumberland, Mrs. Mary Inskeep of Keyser, Mr. George Collins of Meyersdale, Pa., Miss Bertie Sample of Baltimore, Mr. and Mrs. C.
