Description	:	James A. Spillman was born Feb. 11, 1833 , at Yadkinville, North Carolina. He passed away January 2nd , 1920, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 21 days. He came to Poweshiek Co., Iowa in the year 1855. He was married to Sarah E. Vestal McNabb in 1859, who died the 24th day of August 1901. To this union were born seven daughters and four sons. Two daughters Juniata Evans , Laura Olive Spillman, and one son , Homer C. Spillman preceded him in death. Surviving him are the following sons and daughters; Mrs. Alice A. Rivers, Mrs.... Tish, Mrs. Flora M. Rivers and Mrs. Clara M. Gray of Grinnell, Iowa , and Mrs. Addie M. Beeler of Hugo, Colorado , and N. A. Spillman of Eagle Lake, Tex., T. L. Spillman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and O. E. Spillman of Pierce, Nebraska. As a pioneer, Mr. Spillman aided in the development of Poweshiek county and at all times gave assistance and encouragement to movements for the upbuilding of his community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge during most of his residence in Iowa, joining same when lodges of that order were being organized in this county. Funeral services were held at Blue Point cemetery. J. W. Harpster was in charge for Harmon Lodge 273, A. F. and A. M. Now Junia/ Juanita Spillman was married to Irvin Lewis Evans and he was the brother of Jesse Allen Evans whose daughter Mabel Eliza Evans married Clair Tish. Sarah Elizabeth Vestal was previously married to a McNabb .
