James Nun Held in Ohiowa James Allen Nun, the son of Gustav and Lidia Nun, was born February 12, 1939, on his parents' farm near Ohiowa, Neb. Word was received Saturday by Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Nun, Sr. that their son had drowned while on a picnic with his Marine unit at Honolulu. James was baptized in the Lutheran faith March 29, 1944. He was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church March 29, 1952 He received his education in the Ohiowa public schools, where he graduated in 1956. He was inducted into the Marine Corps May 18, 1956, and went overseas January 6, 1957. He was stationed in Hawaii at the time of his passing on April 5, 1957 at the age of 18 years, 1 month and 24 days. He was assigned to a clerical position in the Marines. Left to mourn his passing are his parents, three brothers, Gustav Jr. of South Sioux City, Duane of Ohiowa and Melvin of Kearney; and 1 sister, Mrs. Harold Ebke of Powell, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nedza, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. He also leaves to mourn his fiancee, SharonGeorge, and numerous other relatives and friends. Pfc. Nun's body arrived at Fairmount at 5:40 Sunday morning. Cpl. Robert Crawford, whose home is in Arkansas, but is stationed at San Francisco, was the escort. He was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Philippi during his short stay here. Services were held Monday afternoon from the St. John's Lutheran church with Rev. Karl Konig officiating. His message was taken from the 15th chapter of John, this theme based on the passage, {In my house there are many mansions." A pal of Jimmie's, Richard Anderson of Shickley, was soloist. He sang, "Abide With Me" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me." Miss Mary ?Craddouck was accompanist. Casketbearers were schoolmates mostly. They were Roger Waterman, Richard Peppie, Arnold Garland, Bernard Wolfeich, Rex Bahe and Roger Pribyl, a frined. The balcony was reserved for Ohiowa high school students. Interment was in the Ohiowa cemetery, the funeral cortage extending more than 1 1/2 miles. With the arrival of the first part of the procession at the cemetery many cars were still to leave town. A firing squad from Hastings gave the salute. The escort, Cpl. Robert Crawford made the presentation of the flag to the parents. A lunch was served to the family and friends at the church basement by the congregation with friends contributing as an expression of condolence to the bereaved.
