C. Varney ranch. It appears that a rope broke and let him fall to the ground, where he landed on his head, fracturing some of the bones in his neck and sustaining other injuries. Mr. Abbott's wife died about a year ago and the children were placed in a charitable institution. This left him alone. He has always been a hard worker and no doubt contributed the best he could to the support of his dependents. He is probably about 55 years of age. The Leavenworth Echo - Oct 20, 1922 ABBOTT DIED FRIDAY FROM INJURIES Andrew Abbott died last Friday about noon as a result of the fall, chronicled last week, in which his neck was broken. The body was removed to the parlors of the Leavenworth Undertaking Co. and relatives notified. His brother Arthur, of Portland, Oregon, arrived Monday for the funeral, which was held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, the Rev. Alfred E. Derby, pastor of the Methodist church, preaching the sermon. Burial was made in the Leavenworth cemetery. Mr. Abbott was 48 years of age and is survived by his wife who is an inmate of the state asylum for the insane, and three children - a daughter with a family at Entiat and the other three at the Washington State Rescue home.
