Funeral arrangements are in charge of Sherman Funeral Home. James A. Nicholson was born November 16, 1861 in Washington County, a son of William and Nancy Jane Tucker Nicholson. He was married to Flora Kephart on March 2, 1887 and they lived on a farm in the Pleasant Hill community until Mr. Nicholson retired from that occupation. The home had been in Washington since 1913. Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson observed their 55th wedding anniversary last Mardi. He was reared in the Pleasant Hill community and attended the rural schools. He was a member of the Church of Christ and of the Journal's Three Quarter Century Club. Surviving are his wife, three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Marie Seiler of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Zaida Proudfit of Washington, Mrs. Nita Bidwell of Chicago, Walter of Washington and George of Lone Tree; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; four brothers, Clayton and Tom of Washington, Ed of Wyman, George of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Sade Benson and Mrs. Minnie Bradford, both of Washington.
