Description	:	James Andrew Souer, son of George Andrew and Grace Irene White Souer, was born July 22, 1926 on a farm near Webster, Iowa. He graduated from Thornburg High School and attended Iowa State College. On June 22, 1949 he married Hilda Taylor at the Delta Christian Church. He worked for English Valley Coop. In the early 1950's he entered dairy farming at their present farm in Delta. He drove the Sigourney Community School bus from 1966-1989. He was a member of the Delta Christian Church, Universe Lodge A.F. and A.M. #242 in What Cheer, Aspasia O.E.S. #98, Delta Ruritans, Delta Trees Forever, Delta Community Housing and Farm Bureau. He was active in the Republican Party and a former director of Mid America Dairyman. He served on and was a former president of the Delta School Board. He was a former Dairy Heard Improvement Association Superavisor. Recently he had worked part time at Dollar General store in Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Ross Heisdorffer; and an infant brother, Harold. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Hilda; three daughters; Ellen J, (Ron) Wagler of Oskaloosa, Elaine K. (Galen) Heisdorffer of Ottumwa, and Nancy L. Souer of Delta; six grandchildren; one brother, Lewis (Margaret) Souer of Indianola; a sister, Minnie (Kenneth) Fry of Winfield, Illinois; several nieces, nephews and "adopted" family.
