Description	:	James Archie Haggart was born June 9 1854, at the north end of East Caroga Lake, Near Newkirk's Mills, Fulton County, New York. He died in November 1936 after being struck by an automobile at Bellflower, California. He married February 7 1881 at Grand Island, Nebraska, Fannie Almira Claflin who was born on Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Unknown Claflin and Lavinia Margaret Lewis. Her family came to Cairo, Nebraska, in 1872. Fannie died January 24 1882, ten days following giving birth to Fannie Edith her daughter. He married February 7 1881 at Grand Island, Nebraska, Fannie Almira Claflin who was born on Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Unknown Claflin and Lavinia Margaret Lewis. Her family came to Cairo, Nebraska, in 1872. Fannie died January 24 1882, ten days following giving birth to Fannie Edith her daughter. James married Joanna O'Hollaren daughter of Patrick O'Hollaren and Anna (Hickson) O'Hollaren. Patrick was born in Ballyheigue, County Kerry Ireland and Anna in Connecticut of immigrant (Irish) parents. Joanna was born on a farm near Alma Center, Wisconsin October 22, 1862, and died at Saint Paul, Nebraska in September 1940. Joanna taught school before she was married. James Archie Haggart had little formal education for he was busy helping his mother to "build her sod house" and settle in Nebraska. At 21 (c1875) he took homestead in Greeley County, Nebraska the homestead had to be taken out in his mothers name as he was too young to sign for it, His father had died during the Civil War. He and one of the neighbors decided to go to Fort Hartsuff (near Elyria) to get a job, they took an inventory and between them had 10 cents. They arrived and got a job working to build the Fort. His fathers mother died so he came back to Saint Paul and got a job as janitor in the St Pauls Court House, he had had very little schooling but he studied in the office of St Paul lawyer James N Paul. Under the tutelage of Paul the Elder James was admitted to the Nebraska Bar in 1880 enjoying a long practice mostly concerned with real estate. In 1893 he joined the Presbyterian Church with his wife and became an elder. He attended the Bull Moose Convention of 1912 and supported Teddy Roosevelt the only time in his life he did note vote "straight republican". He loved the land and especially trees, which he planted wherever he lived. A Great reader, he was particularly interested in American History. He left his children a family history which was a great help in coming the "Daniel of Johns town" Genealogy.
