Description	:	James B. Bradeen, age 80, passed through Heaven’s Gate January 19, 2021, after battling the Covid 19 Virus for about a month. Jim was born in Custer, SD in 1940, the first of three children to Howard and Dorothy Bradeen. He graduated from Rapid City High School in 1958, attended South Dakota State University and served in the South Dakota National Guard in his younger years. Read More	James B. Bradeen, age 80, passed through Heaven’s Gate January 19, 2021, after battling the Covid 19 Virus for about a month. Jim was born in Custer, SD in 1940, the first of three children to Howard and Dorothy Bradeen. He graduated from Rapid City High School in 1958, attended South Dakota State University and served in the South Dakota National Guard in his younger years. Jim was proud of his farming and ranching background and talked fondly about growing up working on the farm and enjoying time with family and friends. Jim’s brother Don, sister Nila and the many Bradeen family members created many family memories over the years. 1965 was an important year, Jim married Nancy Jerred and started his career with Montana Dakota Utilities Co. To Jim and Nancy two children were born. Jim’s work with MDU was the foundation for his life, and in the 35 years he was there he made many lifelong friends. Jim’s MDU truck was known to carry more tools and parts than most others and the extra weight in the truck served him well when working in the snowy, icy winters. Jim retired in 2000, and continued his lifelong friendships with many of the MDU retirees at coffee, fishing, and auctions. In 1991, Jim married Linda Thoresen and the two of them enjoyed life dancing and socializing with friends until Linda’s passing in 2000. Jim’s hobbies over the years included; helping his brother Don at his farm in Rapid Valley, fishing, fixing anything he could find to fix, collecting antique tractors, and spending time with family, his daughters, and grandkids. In the later years Jim has enjoyed gardening, fixing anything, and spending time with dear friend, S.C. and her family. Jim is survived by his daughters and their spouses,5 grandchildren,his brother and his wife,his sister and her husband,nephews, nieces, and friend, "S.C.". Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy Bradeen and wife, Linda Bradeen. Jim never met a stranger and could carry a conversation with anyone, better yet if the talk included tools, or tractors. The Family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Monument Health for their heartfelt caring work during Jim’s illness. A graveside service will be held later in 2021 at the Custer, SD Cemetery with Pastor Kris Garlick officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Jim’s grandchildren.
