Passing of Civil War Veteran After Long Illness James Baker Rushmore, son of Silas and Hannah Rushmore, was born near Mixtown, Penn., March 27, 1845. Here he grew to young manhood and at the age of 17 years he enlisted in a Pennsylvania Regiment of the Union Army, serving nine months when he was wounded in the battle of Petersburg. Later receiving his honorable discharge from the army. On January 30, 1870 he was united in marriage to Mary M. Goodell at Sabinsville, Penn., where he resided until 1882 when he moved with his family to Nevada, Iowa, where he since made his home. Two children, a son, Eugene R. of Jefferson, and Ella May, at home, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Rushmore, both having been reared to manhood and womanhood and present at the funeral service. For some time his health has gradually failed, and for the past two years had been confined to the home, death coming on May 17, 1925, at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 20 days. He leaves to mourn his death his lifelong companion, the two children, one sister and two brothers besides many friends. He was a faithful and devoted to his home and friends, an honest and upright citizen, a member of G.A.R. Post of Nevada in which he always took pride and a friend to mankind. Funeral services were conducted from the home by Rev.
