Obit. – Mr. James Bowes Another of Ramsay township's old residents to pass away this week was Mr. James Bowes of the eighth line, who was called to join the throng who surround the throne, the day of his departure being Monday of this week, 12th inst., after only a short illness. He was born in Pakenham township 85 years ago, where he spent a good many years, and was for a considerable time an elder in the Presbyterian church of which the late Dr. Mann was the minister He was one of a family of eleven children, four of whom survive him. Theses are Mrs John Waddell of Almonte, Mrs Lindsay of Ottawa, Alexander of Saskatoon, Sask., and John of Ponoka, Alta. Fifty-five years ago he was married to Mary Waddell, and on March 26th five years ago they celebrated their golden anniversary. They had eight children, one of whom died in infancy and one, John A., in manhood. Of the three sons and three daughters still living, Thos. J., Jas. and Robert, and Maggie and Mary live hereabout and Nettie is at Grattan. Mrs Bowes died on the 3rd of March last. The late Mr. Bowes was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian church. The funeral took place to the eighth line cemetery on Wednesday.
