Description	:	James was the son of James Washington Moore and Charlotte Temple Elmore. The family moved to Schuyler County, Illinois, in 1851 and to Fremont County, Iowa, in 1864. He was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 11 October 1870 by Joseph Smith III and ordained a teacher in 1871. On 2 Feb 1873 James married Mary V Roberts, daughter of James Valentine Roberts and Eleanore LaPorte. She died in childbirth bearing one daughter, Nettie. In 1876 he married Eliza J Roberts, sister of Mary. They had one daughter, Jessie Ann (who later married James Edward Claiborne.) Several Latter Day Saints families came to Fremont County with the early settlers and in 1871 the Hamburg branch of the RLDS church was organized. James was one of the organizers and remained an active member of the Hamburg and Thurman branches until his death.
