Description	:	Son of William and Mary Carmichael. Married Zella Johnson on March 18, 1903. They were divorced on My 5, 1908 in Jefferson county, Iowa. Reportedly, on a Carmichael family group sheet, he was buried in Evergreen cemetery, but with no headstone and plot location not identified. However, a funeral home marker is found for him at Pattison cemetery (although certainly not in the original place, as it simply rests against the base of the William and Mary Carmichael monument). Ledger Friday, January 18, 1957 Pg. 3 Col. 4 Rites Monday For James CARMICHAEL James CARMICHAEL, lifelong resident of Jefferson county, died suddenly this morning at the home of his nephew, Ralph C. CARMICHAEL, who resides seven miles northeast of Fairfield. Last rites will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. J. Henry Teele in charge. He was born December 1, 1872, in Jefferson county, son of William and Mary ALEXANDER CARMICHAEL. He lived his entire life in this county. He was a member of the Eagles lodge (sic - Eagles Club/Aerie), and was the last of a family of seven. Only nieces and nephews survive. --------------------- Fairfield Ledger - Weekly Wednesday March 25, 1903 A Double Wedding Wednesday in this city Frank A. Dustin was married to Miss Sarah Carmichael (sic. a/k/a Sadie Carmichael; see: Sadie Carmichael Dustin) and James Carmichael to Miss Zella M. Johnson. The ceremonies were performed at the same hour by Rev. J. E. Corley at his residence. The bride in one instance and the bride-groom in the other are brother and sister, and both are children of William Carmichael of this city. Mr. Dustin is a well known and excellent young farmer of Liberty township, while Miss Johnson is an estimable young woman who has many friends in this community. Many friends throughout the county will tender congratulations and good wishes to these young people.
