Laing, live on route 2, Tipton, completed the supply specialist course July 17 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Laing received instruction in the fundamentals of army supply procedures and the preparation of supply records and forms. Laing, whose wife, Shirley, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Laing, live on route 2, Tipton, completed the supply specialist course July 17 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Local Newspaper Article - Dated November 9, 1961 James Laing Jr., 25, of Tipton, was found dead in the wreckage of his car one mile south of Tipton on highway 38 about 5 A.M. Thursday. Authorities said Laing apparently was killed in a crash about midnight. His car plunged off a curve, hit a culvert, bounced 60 feet in the air and crashed to the ground. The motor and transmission were torn out of the car. Laing was thrown into the back seat. He was returning home from an army reserve meeting at Iowa City. He was employed on the Vernon Lamp farm. Survivors include his wife and 2 sons, aged 1 and 2, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Laing. Sons are James and Kevin
