Description	:	James C. Swanner, age 75 of Junction City, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at UAMS in Little Rock, AR. He was born January 14, 1938 to Charles and Mildred Swanner of Junction City. James served in the U.S. Navy where he served as an electronic technician Third Class N. He was responsible for maintenance of the guided missile system aboard the U.S.S. Los Angeles, where he almost earned a good conduct medal; all his buddies will know how to appreciate this. He graduated from Junction City High School with honors and continued his education... Read More	James C. Swanner, age 75 of Junction City, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at UAMS in Little Rock, AR. He was born January 14, 1938 to Charles and Mildred Swanner of Junction City. James served in the U.S. Navy where he served as an electronic technician Third Class N. He was responsible for maintenance of the guided missile system aboard the U.S.S. Los Angeles, where he almost earned a good conduct medal; all his buddies will know how to appreciate this. He graduated from Junction City High School with honors and continued his education at Louisiana Tech University where he graduated and taught math. He then became professor and deputy director of North West College, in Minden, LA. He resided most of his life in Junction City, being an avid hunter, fisherman, and great golfer. He believed in everyone having a good education and also helped many others to receive theirs when unable to afford it. James was a member of Scotland Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Richard A. Cottrell. Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Sue Dickey Cottrell Swanner of Junction City; four daughters, Cindy of Benton, AR, Patty of Ruston, LA, Deanna of Carrolton, TX and Julie of Minden, LA; step-son, Donnie C. Cottrell (Regina), step-daughter, Danna Cottrell; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his siters, Emily of Ruston, LA, and Mary Ann of Rogers, AR; his brothers included, Kenneth (Ginger) of Hot Springs, AR and William (Lidie Faye) of Junction City, AR; and by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Scotland Presbyterian Church. www.arcremation.com
