Worthington, 90, of Vancouver, Washington passed away on March 14, 2018 in Vancouver. Worthington, 90, of Vancouver, Washington passed away on March 14, 2018 in Vancouver. He was born January 26, 1928 to Charles and Molly Worthington in Amboy, Washington, where he grew up on the long-time family farm on Worthington Road in Yacolt, Washington. He was a graduate of the Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, Washington and attended Clark College in Vancouver, Washington. Jim joined the Air Force in 1951 where he became a gunnery instructor for B29's at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. He was assigned to NCO Academy where he instructed in many disciplines, including communications, management, and world affairs. Jim became a Chief in Communications and served as Director of Education. He served in Japan and ended his military career in Alaska, where he served as Senior Advisor to the Wing Commander. Jim retired from the Air Force in 1975 as Chief Master Sargent Instructor. After marrying his wife, Wilma Roler in 1995, they built Jim's dream home, a huge log house overlooking the Columbia River in Woodland, Washington. His garden became one of his primary retirement activities, as well as fishing, carpentry and bowling. Jim was a master gardener, and bowled a 300 game. As a true man of God, Jim was a prime example of a loving Christian husband, friend and father. God's word was his guiding principle. Jim is survived by his wife, Wilma; sisters, Mary Nosko and Martha Salmi; daughter, Connie (Bob) Purvis; son, Jerry Worthington; grandchild, James Clark III; extended grandchildren, Jared and Michael Fronk and Cade and Ryan Roler; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ashley and Clark. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Gruber and his son, Jimmy. A memorial was held at New Heights Church, 7913 NE 58th Ave. in Vancouver, Washington on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
