Description	:	James D. "Doug" Harvey, 84, of Lovingston went to be with the Lord on Monday night September 10, 2007, at Martha Jefferson Hospital after a lengthy illness. Doug was born June 13, 1923, in Nelson County, a son of the late William Tunstall Harvey and Dorothy Seay Harvey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Kemper Harvey; four brothers, William Lynn Harvey, Lewis Carlton Harvey, Richard P. Harvey, and Clyde H. "Doug" Harvey, 84, of Lovingston went to be with the Lord on Monday night September 10, 2007, at Martha Jefferson Hospital after a lengthy illness. Doug was born June 13, 1923, in Nelson County, a son of the late William Tunstall Harvey and Dorothy Seay Harvey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Kemper Harvey; four brothers, William Lynn Harvey, Lewis Carlton Harvey, Richard P. Harvey, and Clyde H. Harvey; and two sisters, Margaret H. Hill, and Dorothy H. Jackson. Doug retired from State Farm Insurance Company in 1988 after 33 years of service as both an Agent and Agency Manager. His retirement years were spent actively farming until his recent illness. He was a member and Deacon of Oak Hill Baptist Church, and served in many other capacities of the church. He was a member of Gideon's International, and a member of Fleetwood Harmony Masonic Lodge of Lovingston. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth M. Harvey; two sons, Gene D. Harvey and his wife, Natalie, of Staunton, and Malcolm T. "Mac" Harvey and his wife, Leigh, of Lovingston. He also leaves behind one sister, Annie Dee Kauffman and her husband, Bill, of Lynchburg; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers will be Mac Bridgwater, Michael Martin, Marshall Kidd, Billy Paul Mays, Keith Spencer, Mike Cox, Russell Lee Evans, Evans Martin, and Mitch Harris. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2007, at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Lovingston (Davis Creek) with the Reverend Carroll Welch officiating with interment at the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2007, at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Nelson County Rescue Squad P.O. Box 44, Faber, Virginia 22938 or Oak Hill Baptist Church 248 Davis Creek Lane, Lovingston, Virginia 22949. Arrangements by Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston (434-263-4097).
