Description	:	James Edward Bartram, 90, of Berwick, Kansas died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Sabetha Community Hospital. Jim was born in Kearney, Nebraska on October 3, 1919 to Ulysses Grant Bartram and Rena (McQuire) Bartram. In 1927, he moved with his family to Berwick and attended the Berwick Grade School. Later in life, he attended NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. He was united in marriage to Rosetta Eisenbise on February 6, 1942. Jim was drafted in the Army shortly after marrying. Read More	James Edward Bartram, 90, of Berwick, Kansas died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Sabetha Community Hospital. Jim was born in Kearney, Nebraska on October 3, 1919 to Ulysses Grant Bartram and Rena (McQuire) Bartram. In 1927, he moved with his family to Berwick and attended the Berwick Grade School. Later in life, he attended NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. He was united in marriage to Rosetta Eisenbise on February 6, 1942. Jim was drafted in the Army shortly after marrying. In the 25th tank battalion of the 14th armored division, he was on active duty in Germany and honorable discharged in November 11, 1945 with three stars. Returning from the Army, he continued running the family business with his father and raising his family in Berwick. Jim was affectionately called "Bart" while owning and operating Bartram Truck Line for 50 years retiring in 1988. His grandchildren dotingly called him "Pop", they enjoyed playing a variety of card games and pool with him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses Bartram and Rena Bartram; his brother, Elmer Bartram; his granddaughter, Julie Niehues. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosetta Bartram of Sabetha, Kansas; three daughters, Betty Anne Niehues and her husband, Lester of Sabetha, Kansas, Connie Scarlett and her husband, Mark of Spokane, Washington and Carmen Yost and her husband, Michael of Sabetha, Kansas; one sister, Alice Hervey of Sabetha, Kansas; five grandchildren, Ty Scarlett, Taner Scarlett, Toak Scarlett, Jeff Niehues and Becky Richardson and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, December 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. A family visitation Sunday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery with military honors conducted by the V.F.W. Post #7285 of Sabetha. Memorial contributions may be made to the NorthRidge Church or the V.F.W.
