CONNERS A resident of Minot for 28 years and a former longtime employee of the city, James E. Conners, 75, 415-3rd Ave NW died Thursday afternoon in a Minot hospital. Although he had been a patient in the hospital for 8 weeks, his death was unexpected. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in the Little Flower Catholic Church of which Mr. Conners was a member. The Rev. Felix Andrews will officiate. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Thompson-Larson Funeral home were the body may be reviewed beginning Saturday evening. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Leo's cemetery beside his wife who died in 1936. His youngest son, Thomas H., hero of World War II, is buried in Soldiers Plot at Rosehill cemetery. T-Sgt. Connors [sic], who gave his life to save a comrade when the Sixth Rangers were ambushed between Lingayen Gulf and Cabaruan Hills in the Philippines Feb. 4, 1945, was posthumously cited for bravery and awarded the Silver Star. Born Nov 27, 1880 in Dougherty , IA, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Conners, Mr. Conners was reared and educated in that vicinity. In 1910 he came to Minot to marry Anna Dougherty, his childhood sweetheart, the daughter of a former neighbor. Miss Dougherty had been teaching in Hankinson but when her father, the late Hugh Dougherty, and his family left their ancestral home in Dougherty to come to Minot in 1907, Anna Dougherty rejoined the family here. She and Mr. Conners were married Jan. 10, 1910 and went to live on their farm near Dougherty. Before returning to Minot in 1938, they lived in Mason City, Ia., where Mr. Conners was employed by a mercantile firm and also was engaged in the sale of real estate. Surviving Mr. Conners are two sons and a daughter, Harold, Lyle and Mrs. Reuben [sic] Kaul, five grandchildren, Julane, Janine and Jerry Conners and Sharon and Thomas Kaul, all of Minot. Two sisters, Mrs. Dan Hogan and Mrs. John Solberg, live in Dougherty. Another sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Callahan preceded him in death. There are also several nieces and nephews, one of whom, Mrs. Mary Louden of Crookston, Minn., will be here for the funeral. Living in Minot are two sisters-in-law and a brother-in law, Mrs. J.W. Kinsella and Grace and Dan Dougherty
