Description	:	James Edward Peterson was born on September 20, 1941 in Greeley , Nebraska to Jerald and Mary (Fenton) Peterson. He grew up on the family farms near Springfield, Nebraska, and later near Spalding , Nebraska where he attended rural elementary schools. He attended and graduated from Spalding Academy High School in 1959. As a young boy, Jim was active in work around the farm and enjoyed playing football. Read More	James Edward Peterson was born on September 20, 1941 in Greeley , Nebraska to Jerald and Mary (Fenton) Peterson. He grew up on the family farms near Springfield, Nebraska, and later near Spalding , Nebraska where he attended rural elementary schools. He attended and graduated from Spalding Academy High School in 1959. As a young boy, Jim was active in work around the farm and enjoyed playing football. Following high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country from August of 1959 to August of 1962 with 20 months of Foreign Service including time in Japan . Jim married Ruby Tierney on April 20, 1963 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding , Nebraska and to this union four children were born: Mark, Jim, Mike and Julie. Jim and Ruby have raised their family in the Omaha area. Jim worked on the Boys Town farm for a short time before going to work at Kellogg as a maintenance mechanic, retiring in 1996 after 30 years. Jim had a passion for his horses and enjoyed Trail Rides, Parades and Rodeos. He liked to search auctions and sales for farm equipment and other collectables. Jim was a member of the Millard American Legion Post #374 and VFW Post #8336. Jim received great pleasure from assisting his children with any project he could. He was focused on family and connected with his grandchildren on a very intimate level. In recent times, Jim could be seen driving around, checking crops, farms and neighbors. Jim passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha , Nebraska at the age of 67 years and 20 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerald and Mary. Jim is survived by his wife Ruby of Omaha, Nebraska; sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Kate of Ashland, Nebraska, Jim of Omaha and Mike and Gilma of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Troy Daly of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Sierra, Rachael, Holly, Marshal, Micah, Blake, Taylor and Madison; brothers and sisters-in-law Leo and Rosie of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Tom and Veronica of Goddard, Kansas and Robert and Jeannie of Elkhorn, Nebraska; sisters and brother-in-law Agnes and Richard Hinkle of Spalding, Nebraska and Patricia Plosky of Northville, Michigan
