Born in Chelsea in 1888, he was a son of the late William and Catherine (Robar) Garber. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Baker Settlement. He was a devoted husband and father, quiet in disposition, and a good neighbour, and will be keenly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, the former Viola Selig; four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Hubley, Wileville; Marguerite (Mrs. Allan Roulston), Elmsdale; Mrs. Sylvia Crouse, Torbrook; Mrs. Phyllis Mailman, Lower Branch; two sons, Aubrey, Hemford; Arthur, West Clifford; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Mailman, Baker Settlement; one half-sister, Letitia (Mrs. Sylvanus Veno), Baker Settlement; one half-brother, Alvin Getson, Wileville; as well as 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters, two brothers, and a half-brother. The funeral service was held from Sweeny's Funeral Home, Wednesday, February 9, with Rev. Jim Anderson of the Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in the family plot at Baker Settlement. Pallbearers were Mervyn Ritcey, Lowell Beck, Frank Carver, Wilton Bolivar, Ross Wentzell, and Donald Crouse. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
