James was born September 7, 1946 at Oxford to Patsy "Pat" F. and Jessie Cora (Kerr) Blue. He received his education from Oxford graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1964 and then attended Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska receiving his Associates Degree in Mechanics. James was born September 7, 1946 at Oxford to Patsy "Pat" F. and Jessie Cora (Kerr) Blue. He received his education from Oxford graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1964 and then attended Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska receiving his Associates Degree in Mechanics. On August 17, 1966 he was inducted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on August 16, 1968. On June 21, 1971 he married Dorothy Mellott Kegle at the Methodist Church in Holdrege and welcomed Dorothy's daughter, Vicky into the family. Jim and Dorothy were later divorced. Jim then married Vesta Clark and they were later divorced. In 1970 he began working for Strong Brothers Chevrolet in Holdrege as an auto-body mechanic. He specialized in rebuilding and painting vehicles. In 1972 he was employed as a mechanic at Speedway Trucking in Holdrege. From1980 to 1985 he owned the Sweden Crème in Holdrege. He then went to work at Continental Grain in Holdrege until his retirement in July 2006. Jim was a past member of the Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years. He attended the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege and accepted Jesus as Savior in the 1970s. He always attended events such as Pioneer Girls' Dad and Daughter night with his daughter, Vicky. He loved camping, fishing, target shooting and enjoyed working with wood and stained glass. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Vicky DeWald and her husband, Jason of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren: Nathaniel Paul DeWald and his wife, Sarah Jo (Black) DeWald, Ryan Sean DeWald; great-grandson: Caleb Paul DeWald; sister-in-law, June Ryker; nieces, Diane Blair and Kay Canez; great-niece, Lacey Canez and great-nephew, Aaron Canez; as well as host of other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frances Keith Ryker. A memorial has been established in his memory and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department.
