Description	:	James E. Baxter, 90, died at 2:09 a.m. Sept. 11, 2007, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born Dec. 18, 1916, in Elida to Richard and Gladys Kennedy Baxter, who preceded him in death. In 1937, he married Rebekah Binkley, who survives in Elida. Mr. Baxter retired in 1981 as a lab technician from the aerospace division at Westinghouse Electric Corp., after 40 years. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church, Elida. In 1937, he married Rebekah Binkley, who survives in Elida. Mr. Baxter retired in 1981 as a lab technician from the aerospace division at Westinghouse Electric Corp., after 40 years. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church, Elida. He was a member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Lima, and the First Allen County Families. In 1958, he started Pee Wee baseball in Elida. He was a 1934 graduate of Elida High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He devoted his life to his family. Survivors include a son, James (Linda Masters) Baxter, of Elida; a daughter, Barbara (David) Lloyd, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Gay Foust, of Elida; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Woody Baxter; and a sister, Wilma Frye. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. The Rev. Ruth Solo will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, with military rites by the Delphos Veterans Council. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
