Husband of Hazel (Swortzel) Robarts; father of Letha (Robarts) Boynton of Ferndale, and Kadah (Robarts) Hoase of Fresno; son of the pioneer settlers Robert W. Robarts and Amelia Francis Robarts; brother of Keith (Penny) Robarts of Ferndale; grandfather of Gaylene Allen of Fresno, Anne Boynton of Ferndale, and Robert Boynton of Davis. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Robarts was a native of Ferndale. He was a charter member of the Stuart Macklin Post No. 559 of the American Legion, and the Kenneth Rasmussen Post No. 6353 pf the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Ferndale chapter of the Masonic Lodge. He served for several years on the Ferndale City Council, and was a member of the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Dept. for several years. Mr. Robarts was a descendant of the pioneer Francis Francis family his aunt was the first white child born in the Ferndale area, and his mother Amelia Francis was the second. Early in his career he drove the stagecoach between Ferndale and Petrolia. He later managed the family owned Francis Land & Water Co. of Ferndale, until it became Citizen's Utilities. He was one of the last remaining members of the famed 142nd Area Squadron of World War !. Age 81. Friends are invited to attend services at Chapel of the Ferns, Citizen's Mortuary, Ferndale, Friday, March 8, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. E. Evert Hallstrom of the Ferndale Congregational Church officiating. Concluding services at Ocean View Cemetery, Eureka. The family request memorial contributions be made to the Ferndale Congregational Church or to their favorite charity.
