Description	:	James K. P. Fowler was born in Edward, N. Y. November 17, 1844 and died in St. Paul, Neb. Oct 12, 1911, aged 66 years, 10 months and 25 days. Mr. Fowler was a soldier in the Union ranks during the Civil War, we have been unable to get the number of the company and the length of time served, but we know that he received an honorable discharge. He was married in 1865. Six children were born to this union, two of which are dead, the living are three daughters and one son, Leon who resides on the old home in Cleveland precinct, Mrs. B. F. Tiffany of Ravenna, Mrs. Mooney, Grand Island, and Mrs. Geo. Hodgson of Cairo. Mr. Fowler and family have been residents of this community for the last 35 years. A couple of years ago Mr. and Mrs. Fowler left their farm and moved here on account of Mr. Fowler's failing health. Some time ago he had his foot hurt and it did not heal and lately got quite bad and it became necessary to amputate the foot, which was done Oct. 10. He was very weak at the time and this together with the shock of the operation was the cause of his death. Funeral services were held here Monday forenoon and the remains taken to Cairo in the afternoon and buried in the Cairo cemetery. Rev. Underwood of St. Paul, who was in the army during the Spanish American war officiated, and many friends and old neighbors followed Mr. Fowler to his last resting place. Mr. Fowler was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and was very highly respected by all his neighbors and a large number of friends who we join in extending condolences to the bereaved wife and children.
