(no newspaper or date listed) Frank Perkins Frank Perkins, son of Austin and Phoda Perkins, was born in Ripley county, Indiana, April 7, 1848, and died March 3rd, 1925, thus lacking but a dew days of researching the age of 77 years. When six years of age he came to Van Buren county, Iowa, with his parents, who came by wagon, he riding most of the way on horseback. His parents located near Utica, at which place he grew to manhood. After he was married he lived near Utica, then in the village of Mt. Zion for some time, and finally located thirty-four years ago at the home where he died. He was united in marriage to Nevada Moore in October 1874. This union was broken by the death of his devoted wife and mother July 23, 1915. To this union were born seven children, Cora B. Stull, who died Jan. 6, 1922; James Ross of Elma, Wash.; Clara M. Bonner of Moulton, Iowa; Fred B. of Genesee, Idaho; Lena Pearl Regur of Hemet, Calif.; Iva Francis, who died in 1903, and Clement Moore of Mt. Zion, Iowa. Mr. Perkins was the oldest son of a family of seven children, namely, Charles, George, Louis, Ira, Mary and Martha. All preceded him in death, excepting Mary Rowe of Keokuk, who was present at the funeral. Besides these he leaves ten grandchildren to cherish the memory of a kind grandparent. Overhearing a conversation between Mr. Perkins and an old friend last Christmas Day, we remember their expressions on the views of life. They were discussing the final and agreed that they had lived the natural course of life and were ready to go at any time, Mr. Perkins making the remark that he had been well treated and had no grudge to hold against the world, realizing he was only following the course of nature. Thus he left this earth , with no ill feeling toward any one. To old and young he will be missed, for we all have in our mind's eye a picture, most familiar that any artist need envy - Mr. Perkins riding his horse with so great grace and ease. We as friends, feel deeply the loss of a kind and honest man. Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon, March, the fifth, conducted by Rev. Paul P. Jackson of Farmington. Interment in Purdom cemetery, Keosauqua.
