Kelly, 86, retired Baltimore and Ohio railroad engineer, who died suddenly last Friday morning at his home on West Hampshire Street, were held Monday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Requiem High Mass was said by the pastor, Rev. Monsignor A. Scarpati. Rev. Emmett Hannon, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Winchester, Va.; Rev. Victor J. Dowgiallo and Rev. Stephen J. Chylinski, assistant pastors of St. Peter's Church were in the sanctuary. Interment was in the parish cemetery. ... Kelly and son Joseph, Mr. and Mrs. Martin F. Sweeney and children, Sarah, Ellen and James, Weston, W.Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Clay A. Kelly, Kansas City, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. John P. Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Kelly and son Donald, Rochester, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Kelly, Washington; Mrs. Annie Sloan and Mrs. Charles Moran, Baltimore; Mrs. Mary Sperry, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen King, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. May, Mrs. P. J. Hopkins, Alice Rice, Charles J. Welsh, Michael J. Welsh, Michael Burns, Patrick Coyle and M. J. Fleming, Cumberland; Mrs. John J. Burke, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Williams and daughter, Mary Catherine and John Murphy, Keyser; Joseph Welch, Rowlesburg; and Miss Margaret Welsh, Terra Alta. Mr. Kelly was born in this community and spent his entire life here. For fifty-three years he was employed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad company, retiring in 1925. He was a member of Piedmont Council 695, Knights of Columbus; the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and St. Peter's Catholic Church. His wife, Mrs. Sarah McCamley Kelly, died in December 1931. Surviving children are John F. Kelly and Francis D. Kelly, of Rochester, N. Y.; William T. Kelly and Mrs. DeSales Bissett, of Piedmont; Clay A. Kelly, of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Martin Sweeney of Weston; Leo Kelly of Washington and Ligouri Kelly of Westernport. A son, James Kelly was killed in action in France during the World War. A brother, Owen J. Kelly, also survives."
