Description	:	James Francis Murphy, 73, recently of Leesburg, Florida, but a life-long resident of Lima, Ohio, died at 9:50 a.m. Monday, May 16 at Waterman Hospital in Tavares, Florida. He was born on October 30, 1942 in Lima, Ohio to James Edmund and Mary (Finn) Murphy, both of whom preceded him in death. For 21 years, he was married to Judith Hogenkamp Murphy, who died in April 2015. Jim and Judy had three beautiful children. He was born on October 30, 1942 in Lima, Ohio to James Edmund and Mary (Finn) Murphy, both of whom preceded him in death. Jim is also survived by his daughters, Molly Murphy of Thousand Oaks, California and Meghan (Chris) Stevens of Cincinnati, his son, James Edmund (Louise) Murphy of Louisville, Kentucky, his grandsons Sam and Alex Stevens; a brother, Joseph (Dana) Murphy of Lima, brothers-in-law Russ Keller of Columbus and John Paul Christoff of Lima, and many nieces and nephews who have loving memories of "Uncle Jimmy". He was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathleen Keller and Noreen Christoff, his brother, Kevin Murphy and his nephew, John Keller. Jim was a 1960 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School. For a short time, he attended Ohio State University in Columbus and was an avid Buckeye fan for the rest of his life. He loved the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame with equal fervor. He was a graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Jim was a funeral director with Hogenkamp-Murphy funeral home for many years. He is remembered by countless families as a gentle, caring man who helped them through that most difficult time when a loved one is lost. During those years he was active in the Jaycees and was a president of that group. He thoroughly enjoyed this involvement in providing service to the Lima Community. In recent years, Jim became a computer aficionado and loved the technology, which put him in touch with the world. Since his children were living all over the country and the world, he especially loved video calls and the opportunity to visit with them face to face. Jim was keenly interested in current events and made it a habit to be knowledgeable and thoughtful about a wide variety of issues affecting our country and our world. He was a keen observer of the human condition, and enjoyed and appreciated the wonders our world offers. For thirteen years, he and Laurel traveled extensively, while Laurel worked as a travel nurse. He thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to see and live in Hawaii, California, Arizona, the Virgin Islands and several other states. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Church, Lima. Jim's cousin, Fr. Tom Gorman will officiate. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, followed by a Remembrance Service.
