She went to Cincinnati where she joined the theatrical company of Bates & Co., of Louisville, Ky. Later she worked as an actress and vocalist with Marsha's Troupe. Their children are John W. aged 6 years, Edward S. 3 years, and Clara F. 1 year. Grounds: Gross neglect of duty. James F.-Doggett was born October 27th, 1821, at Culpepper C. H., Virginia, and died at Hillsboro, Ohio, April 17th , 1900. At the age of ten year he came to Hillsboro with his parents, traveling overland by wagon train. Here for many years he worked at his trade as painter and paper hanger, playing in the band and being leader of the choir at the M. E. Church, of which he was a member for many years. At the breaking out of the war he at once joined the Union Army and was a member of a military band in the three months service. He then joined the 6Oth O. V. I. and escaped capture at Harper's Ferry by have riding on a mule. In August,1862, he joined Co. A, 89th O. V. I. as a private and September 10th, 1862, he was made Commissary Sergeant, and served as such in the regiment with Col. Glenn, Capt. J. H. Mullenix and Capt. J. B. Foraker. He belonged to this regiment until mustered out in June, 1865. He was.a member of the G. A. R. and the oldest surviving member of LaFayette Lodge I. O. O. F. having been an Odd Fellow for more than 56 years. His widow and eight children survive him, three children having preceded him to the Better Land. He was an honest man, a good citizen, a kind husband and father and a loyal soldier and lodge man. The funeral will take place Thursday morning at 10:30 at the M. E. (Hillsboro, Highland Co., Ohio) 1886-1973 Resolutions of Respect. Hillsboro, O., April 17th, 1900. James Frank Doggett, was a member of John M. Barrere Post G. A. R for a number of years. Comrade Doggett has three honorable discharges from the U. S. service during the war of the rebellion. Very early in the war he enlisted in the 2nd Ohio Volunteers, as a member of the Regimental Band, at the expiration of term of service he re-enlisted, on the 20th day of October 1861, in Company F. 60th Regiment O. V. I. from which regiment he was discharged June 30th 1862, after being discharged from this 2d enlistment, he again re-enlisted on August 9th 1862, in Company A. 83th Regiment O.V.I. On September 10th he was promoted to Regimental Commissary Sergeant, one of the most difficult positions to fill in any regiment, for on the actions of the Commissary Sergeant largely depended the living of the men. We are informed by an officer over Comrade Doggett, that at all times and under very difficult circumstances he was discharging his duties, looking to the Commissary Department, and that at very many times when the men were foot sore, hungry and tired, Comrade Doggett would have provided for them, such places as only a competent, and sometimes pugnacious officer would succeed, in securing these necessities, not only to sustain life, but to enable the men to go forward and to endure. Comrade Doggett served in this position until his regiment was discharged, on September 10th 1865, having been in the service of his country over four years. After his discharge and the war being over Comrade Doggett returned to his home and family, and took up the duties of a citizen, became actively engaged in his profession as a painter, feeling that he had done what he could to preserve his country and save his country's flag, and with that feeling only possessed by an old loyal soldier, who fought as God had filled him with patriotism, and the love of Freedom-. Comrade Doggett was always an enterprising citizen, in love with his home, his town and his church, and always ready to lend a helping hand to the needy, and now he has gone to his eternal reward, to reap the rewards of a just soul made perfect, and where you and I, my comrades, will soon all journey.
