(Hillsboro, Highland Co., Ohio) 1886-1973, March 17, 1910, Image 3 Obituary. Nellie Ruth, daughter of James F. and Sarah A. Doggett, was born July 2, 1880, and died March 7, 1910, aged 29 years 8 months and 5 days. She united with the M. E. Church under the pastorate of Rev. G. H. Dart. She loved to go to Sunday School and church and as long as her health would permit she could be counted on as being present. Being afflicted from childhood she seemed to be her mother's care. While she never seemed able to depend on herself she would cling to her mother and in her illness would often talk to her of her hopes and fears. As she neared the end of her earthly pilgrimage, she assured her mother that the gloom of the grave had been taken away. She said "I know that I can not get well and I am ready to die. Mother only for you I would like to live, but I realize that you can live better without me than I could without you. What a blessing it is that I have a mother to take care of me." The family tie has been broken before, the father having preceeded her to the better world. Mother, three sisters and three brothers remain to mourn her loss. It was hard to give her up but God knows best. As the sun shone out on that March day just as quietly did Nellie fall asleep to wake no more on earth. Although she will soon be sleeping beneath the silent sod her voice to us is speaking, "prepare to meet your God." The funeral was preached by Rev. J. R. Colley at her home on West South street. Farewell, dear Nellie, farewell Our souls were knit to thine, The memory of thy kindness still Around our hearts entwine. Again we hope to meet thee When life short journey is o'er, Ah, yes, we hope to greet thee On heavens eternal shore. CARD OF THANKS. The family wishes to thank the friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy shown us during our sad bereavement. Also Brother Colley for his consoling words. May God bless and reward them all is the wish of the mother, sisters and brothers.
