Armstrong who lived in Big Valley was taken sick last Wednesday night, suffering from abdominal trouble and continued to grow worse, and on Friday evening his physician started with him to the hospital. When nearing McDowell his attendant noticed that he was not breathing on examination found he had passed away. Up to this time he had been apparently sleeping. He was a man of strong constitution enjoyed good health. He was about 57 years of age. Mr. Armstrong had been a widower for over two years, having married Miss Ella Hicks, some years ago. To this union one daughter survive Mrs. Blanch Corbett. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, as follows: Morgan Armstrong, Will Armstrong and Reese Armstrong, Mrs. Delia Carpenter, and Mrs. Irene Terry. Mr. Armstrong was well known in this section, and had many friends who will remember him as a big hearted and industrious citizen. On last Saturday afternoon he was laid to rest in the Hamilton burying ground, Rev. Mr. Good officiating. One of the sad things connected with the burial day, Mr. Armstrong had planned to be married to a Staunton lady on Saturday, which turned out to be his burial day. Armstrong dec’d, in Big Valley, about five miles north of Bolar Springs, on TUESDAY, OCT. 26, 1926, offer for sale the following personal property: 1 Brass bed, 1 set of springs, 1 square table, 3 chairs new, 3 old chairs, wash stand, 1 dugged, 1 dresser, 1 glass safe, 1 roll red carpet, 2 barrels flour, 100 lbs. sugar, 25 or 30 bushels of wheat, 1 roll wire, I doz fruit jars, 1 challenge churn 1 range stove, 2 stone churns, 1 lot crocks, about 2 stacks of hay.
