He had been ill for about four years. Funeral services are tentatively set for 3 p.m. Monday at the Huffman Funeral home, where the body is resting until the time of the rites. He had been ill for about four years. Funeral services are tentatively set for 3 p.m. Monday at the Huffman Funeral home, where the body is resting until the time of the rites. Burial will be in the family lot in the Carroll cemetery. Mr. Post, who was well known throughout this area, had spent most of his life in Carroll. He had been in the newspaper business for a long time before serving as assistant postmaster and postmaster here. He began newspaper work for the Glidden Graphic, Glidden, when he was 16 years old. In 1890, he became a printer for the Carroll Herald, which he served as plant foreman from 1892 to 1894. During the next five years, Mr. Post was foreman of the Carroll Sentinel. In 1899 and 1900 he published the Toledo Democrat with J.J. McMahon. Retrning to Carroll, he resumed work as Sentinel foreman. From 1903 to 1904 he served as editor and business manager of the Carroll Herald. He left newspaper work to become assistant postmaster at the Carrol] postoffice, filling the position until 1921, when he was appointed postmaster. He retired from the postmastership in 1934. Mr. Post was born Dec. 24, 1873 at Humboldt, Iowa, a son of Frank and Margaret Empie Post. He was married June 21, 1893, at Carroll to Belle Burwell, who died Feb. 15, 1937. They had one daughter, Mrs. Verda Post McCullough, who died Jan. 15, 1950. On June 17, 1939, Mr. Post was married to Mrs. Ethel Pascoe, who survives. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Alice Wherry of Churdan, the only survivor in a family of three sisters and two brothers, and a step-daughter, Mrs. H.M. (Maurine) Cunningham, Bellaire, Tex. Mr. Post was a member of the Presbyterian church. For many years, and especially after his retirement Mr. Post had been active in Masonic work. He was a member of Signet Lodge No. 264 A.F. and A.M., Copestone Chapter No. 78, Cryptic Council No. 38, Azgad Commandery No. 63, Knights Templar, and Signet Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star. He had presided over each of the organizations. He had also been a Knights Templar inspecter.
