Description	:	James Harrison “Jim” Cunningham Jr., 95, of Jacksonville, FL, loving husband of the late Gladys Nutter Cunningham died on February 13, 2017. Born in Doddridge County, he was the son of the late James Harrison Cunningham and H. Floyd and Lena Swiger. Jim was a retired U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1940 to 1960. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries suffered when his ship U.S. Navy Destroyer DD 412 Hammann was sunk while aiding the Yorktown at the Battle of Midway. Porter of Beaver, PA, Joy L. Whelchel of Deltona, FL, and Harriet McQuaid of Lumberport; his half-brothers, William Swiger, Salem, Patrick H. Cunningham (Betty) of Lumberport and Frank O. Cunningham (Lyvone) Brushy Fork. He was pre-deceased by his half-brothers, Floyd (Junior) Swiger, Thomas Cunningham, David Cunningham, Carl Cunningham and Clarence Cunningham; and his half-sisters, Betty Nay, Jean Elsey, Carol Williams, Violet Rider, Vera Nutter and Margaret McQuaid. Family will receive friends at Greathouse Funeral Home, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, WV, on Saturday, February 18, 2017, from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the K of P Cemetery in Salem.
