Mr. Clark was born in Cooperstown, N. Y., June 10, 1815, and lived in New York state until 1880 when he moved to Nance county. He was the last survivor of nine children. He was an active member of the Presbyterian church since 1869 until the effects of old age crept upon him. Mr. Clark though thin in flesh and suffering from heart trouble, was a man of wonderful vigor, having been a hard worker until a few years ago when overtaxed nature began to assert its rights and he wisely followed its warning voice, commenced to leave off the hardest of the work and devoted more of his time to social intercourse with his neighbors and friends. He could not be idle but was still tending to his livestock at the time of the fatal accident. Mr. Clark often spoke of its being a cross that he could not still find time to help in the beautifying of his home and give more attention to his orchard, which he had planted and was just beginning to reward him for his past labor by the promise of an abundance of fruit. Mr. Clark was a honest man, a kind neighbor and friend, and leaves to those who knew him best an example of true integrity and lofty manhood well worthy of being followed. Mr. Clark leaves a family of seven children to mourn his loss. Died at his home in this city, Monday evening, James H. Clark, at the advanced age of 82 years. Ever since 1887 Mr. Clark has been a resident of Fullerton. His life was an active one and were it not for the accident that happened him last week, he would probably have lived several years longer. He was conscious to the last and his death was a peaceful and happy one. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon, where a large crowd gathered to pay a last tribute to the deceased. James Henry Clark was born in Cooperstown, N. Y., June 10, 1815 and remained in that state until 1880 when he and his family came to Nebraska, first locating at Lincoln and later at Woodville, and in 1887 he came to Fullerton to make his home. He was married in 1840 to Angeline Cook. In 1852, his first wife having died he was married to Jane Wetmore, who died in this city in 1892. There were seven children in the family – Otis, Almond, Tracy, George, Don, Jennie, Fred (deceased), Nellie and Charles. Father Clark will be missed from among us. He has always lied a Christian life and until old age crept upon him he was a regular attendant of the Presbyterian church.
