Description	:	JAMES HENRY FARLIN James Henry Farlin, for more than forty years, a resident of Villisca and vicinity, died at noon Saturday, January 21, 1928, at his home in Spencer, Nebraska. He was born January 21, 1859, in Highland County, Ohio to Thomas J. & Ruth Ann Gabriel Farlin, and was 69 years old at his death. Read More	JAMES HENRY FARLIN James Henry Farlin, for more than forty years, a resident of Villisca and vicinity, died at noon Saturday, January 21, 1928, at his home in Spencer, Nebraska. He was born January 21, 1859, in Highland County, Ohio to Thomas J. & Ruth Ann Gabriel Farlin, and was 69 years old at his death. He accompanied his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Farlin to Villisca in 1863, and grew to manhood on his father's farm here. On October 10, 1883, he was married to Emma I. Rains of Villisca and they established their home on the farm. Later Mr. Farlin engaged in the hardware business with his brother, Horace, in which he continued several years, afterward taking a position as traveling salesman in Nebraska and moving his family to Madison County in that state in 1906. In 1917 they moved to Spencer, Nebraska. He was the father of four children, one of whom died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Matheson, Virgil and Elmer. Besides his wife and children, he leaves a brother, two sisters, and six grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Farlin were held at his home in Spencer, Nebraska on Monday, conducted by E. W. Nye and Benham, pastors of Spencer, Nebraska. The body accompanied by Elmer, was brought to Villisca, Montgomery County, Iowa, arrived here Tuesday morning and was taken to the J. L. Smith company funeral room to await the funeral which was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Methodist Church, with Rev. Geo. A. Lawton in charge of the service. The singing was by Mrs. F. E. Shane and Mrs. S. M. Joliffe, accompanied by Mrs. C. L. Meyerhoff and the pallbearers were Leonard and Ratio Strain, Al Darnell, H. H. Farlin, J. L. Palmquist, and Jesse Delaney, and interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Information found in The Villisca Review, January 1928.
