Description	:	James Jamison Tong. Committed by Chas. F. Irwin Judge of El Dorado Co. April 26th 1869. Age 28 years; native of Missouri; single; was last from Missouri, has been in California 17 years; occupation, laborer. The evidence of insanity is he has attempted to injure his mother without any cause and has made threats to burn houses and injure different ones - threatened to burn his mother's house and others in town; kept powder in his room to blow up the house. Age 28 years; native of Missouri; single; was last from Missouri, has been in California 17 years; occupation, laborer. The evidence of insanity is he has attempted to injure his mother without any cause and has made threats to burn houses and injure different ones - threatened to burn his mother's house and others in town; kept powder in his room to blow up the house. He has had symptoms of insanity for three years past but has shown more evidence of it for the past few days; disease decreasing; has rational intervals. He appears at times to fancy that everyone is a Rebel and talks about going to Washington to kill Johnson and other similar kind of ideas; is disposed to injure relatives or anyone familiar with his immediate family; is not filthy or destructive - no insane relations. Since 7 years of age after a spell of sickness he has been deaf and dumb; was for nearly 7 years in the Deaf & Dumb Asylum in New York City - left there and returned here in 1863. When he returned here was imbued with very religious impressions - appears particularly exercised concerning the Rebellion and has let the matter prey upon his mind; has been temperate; has not suffered from disease or injury; cause of insanity unknown; class, dementia; no treatment. Condition of patient when received about the same as represented above. Admitted May 1st 1869. Has no property. Died Nov. 9th 1875 of Typhoid Pneumonia.
