Description	:	James Jay, one of our earliest settlers, died at his home northeast of Nelson at two o'clock Tuesday morning. He had been in poor state of health for some time, and passed quietly over the river at the above time. He was a native of Ohio, being born in Miami county (sic), April 25, 1836. During the late war he enlisted in the 94th Regiment Ohio Volunteers. He came to Nebraska in 1872 where he resided until his death.
